LiLAQ?: improving Linux Audio Quality

Creamware PULSAR is rumored to get some sort of official linux support at some point in time. This doesn't seem to really be happening. This is an expensive ($1000?) system with powerful built-in signal processing chips, and I don't know much else about the hardware. We've been waiting for more news on thisfor a looong time now. Smells like vaporware.
