A tip from Michael Brown, for users of cyrix 686 CPU's: "I have set6x86 (part of the f6x86 program) set up usually to power down the Cyrix on HALT (keeps the system cooler!). I tried append=nohlt, that was good. I also tried using set6x86 to put the processor back into full power mode, that did it too! (Even using halt as usual, it seems)."
